Have you ever heard someone say "life is like a movie, you just sit back and enjoy the show"? Well, I sure have. I remember a number of years ago I was at a local theatre only to walk in and see a line for the consession stand all the way to both doors. Ugh, who wants to wait in line that long? Not me! So I proceeded into the theatre to find my seat ..without any snacks. I'm all for going to see movies in the theatres but who goes in without a snack?! Apparently I did. As I sat down all I could think about was munching on some popcorn and drinking a cold pop. I was irritated but it beat standing in line for forever. Soon enough, the lights began to fade and people started to quiet , the movie was starting. I don't think even a happy meal from McDonalds could have lightened my mood. So after about 2 hours of sitting watching a movie-without a snack, it was over. I was hungry, annoyed and just so done with the consession stand workers (even though they did nothing), sound familiar? It sure was for me. After going about life for a few days after I had seen the film I had been talking to someone telling them this experience and something hit me. In life you can't always have popcorn and soda, not for the best moments in life and certainly not the worst. Having popcorn at the movie isen't a life or death matter ( although I thought it was) it can mess with you're head actually. Not the popcorn, but the idea of always having the best and never expecting the unexpected aka: lines being too long. Although most of us if we're truthful, would like all the fancy things in life or a snack for the movie, we can't always get it. We can kick, scream and pity, but it won't change a thing. I guess the lesson I learned was that appreciation isen't just when you have popcorn at the movies, free round tickets to Disney Land or whatever the case may be, it's being appreciative for what you have. I look back and laugh now but in that moment, I dident exactly have THAT mindset. Always be thankful for each of life's dissapointments because it might just turn out, you needed that extra long line and a crap ton of patience. Stay Blessed !
